New English Chardonnay Collection
2022 in the North Downs of Kent, had a warm, dry summer with low rainfall which led to steady ripening with smaller bunches and berries, which produced Chardonnay grapes with intense flavours and good balance.
The wines were aged for 11 months in a barrel before blending and bottling. Blending was determined by a careful barrel selection.
Barrels exuding particularly flinty and citrus-led aromas were selected for the final blend of ‘KC1’, barrels exuding particularly savoury and complex citrus flavours were selected for the final blend of ‘KC2’ and barrels exuding approachability and stone fruit were selected for the final blend of ‘KC3’.
KC1 has lifted aromas of fresh lemon peel and flint. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp acidity, silky mouthfeel and elegant structure. Well-defined notes of crushed oyster shells, lemon and subtle oak lead to a long, mineral finish.
KC2 has an intense nose of lemon curd, pastry and vanilla. The palate is medium-bodied. Notes of fresh lemon, green apple and toasted almond are complemented by a creamy mouthfeel. Taut acidity and fine structure lead to a long, powerful finish.
KC3 is a fresh and vibrant expression of still English Chardonnay with subtle notes of stone fruits, complemented by a backbone of citrus acidity. It is medium-bodied with a beautiful mouthfeel and long finish.
